The Virtual Vehicle Delivery
Guide for Safe Car Buying
Preparation
• Be transparent when setting up the delivery appointment; share in detail what
precautions the dealership is taking and explain the sanitation process being
executed to ensure the safety of the customer
• Use a clean pair of disposable gloves while preparing the vehicle for delivery
• Apply disposable plastic covers over the seat, floor and steering wheel
• If paperwork is being signed electronically, have disinfectant wipes handy to
clean the device's screen prior to the customer signing
• If paperwork is being signed on paper, deliver them in a sealed envelope with
disposable gloves and a sanitized pen inside
Delivery
• Wear a mask and a clean pair of disposable gloves during the vehicle delivery
• Upon delivery, protective covers should be removed and the vehicle should
be sanitized with disinfectant wipes (steering wheel, gear shifts, turn
signal levers, dashboard, door handles, radio controls, buttons, screens, air
vents, keys and key fobs, etc.) following CDC guidelines
• Dispose of any cleaning products in a plastic bag and remove it from the vehicle
• Finalized paperwork and keys should be left in the car for the customer
As many dealerships pivot toward a "virtual" dealership model, it is essential to implement new
processes to ensure safe business practices are being exercised. We've compiled a guide with tips on
how to operate safely and efficiently when preparing and delivering a vehicle to a customer's home.
Employees should regularly wash their hands thoroughly prior to and after vehicle preparation and
delivery. To reduce exposure, designate one Delivery Specialist to prepare and deliver each vehicle.
