6 Tips to Successfully Run a Remote Sales Department Tip 1: Be Aware of National & State Health Guidelines • Be sure to follow your state's health guidelines as well as CDC guidelines • It is advised that all employees wear face masks and disposable gloves while conducting any sort of business with customers Tip 2: Handle All Sales Remotely • Set up your sales team and systems so that they can handle all sales negotiations and transactions virtually, without stepping foot in the dealership • Develop a protocol and train your staff on how to operate remotely, including fielding leads and making calls • Provide scripts to the sales staff to ensure the team is being sensitive and supportive to their customers vs. using aggressive sales techniques • Determine if select personnel are able to complete certain functions at the dealership if they cannot do them remotely, such as securing financing, executing registration/title work, etc. Tip 3: Restrict Walk-Ins • Your showroom should be closed.
